Choosing the best way to wash your hair is imperative in order to maintain a healthy set of hair. Incorrectly washing your hair may strip it of natural oils that may cause your dry hair to become even drier.

1. Choose the correct shampoo

Choose a shampoo that will rehydrate your hair instead of stripping essential oils which will lead to more dryness. Use a hydrating shampoo that contain moisturizing ingredients such as argan oil or coconut oil.

2. Use lukewarm water

Hot water can strip essential oils that will cause even more dryness, therefore, it is recommended to use lukewarm water. Cold water may have even more benefits for your scalp and hair, however, choose the temperature that is more comfortable for you.

3. Use an appropriate conditioner

Use a moisturizing conditioner along the hair follicles while avoiding the scalp. Rinse the conditioner out with cool water after letting it rest for a couple of minutes. The conditioner will help replenish the moisture lost after the shampoo.

4. Do not rub to dry and avoid using heat

Gently pat your hair with the towel to remove excess water so as to not damage your follicles. Avoid using heat as it can dry out your hair even more. Use a heat protectant in case you need to use a blow-drier.

5. Shampoo less

Try to wash your hair 2-3 times per week with shampoo, however, this depends on the individual and it is best to experiment to see what works best for you.
